The coronaviral pandemic has not affected Australia’s cruise ships.
But passengers are still concerned.
Coastal Sydney is set to start its inaugural season next year and Carnival Cruise Line will be operating a cruise ship to the Pacific Ocean from January 1, 2018.
The two ships are part of a consortium of ships that include the world’s biggest cruise lines.
But Carnival CEO Chris Heffernan says there’s still a lot of work to do before they are ready to launch.
“It is not at all a safe voyage to the ocean at all,” he said.
He said the coronivirus is not yet a major threat to passengers, but passengers should be aware of the increased risk of spreading the virus and take the time to get vaccinated.
In the meantime, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has advised travellers to remain at home and check their personal and household health information to avoid being exposed to the virus.
