The Boston Bruins have the best chances of winning the Stanley, according to a poll released by Yahoo Sports.
The poll of 1,000 NHL players shows the Bruins have a better shot than the Minnesota Wild, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers to win.
Boston is also ahead of the Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders, Washington Capitals, Florida Panthers and New Jersey Devils in terms of home ice advantage.
The Bruins have been playing at home in recent seasons and have a 10-1 record at the BMO Harris Bradley Center since 2010.
The Penguins have won five of six games in the BOS since the beginning of the 2010-11 season.
The Rangers are currently on a five-game winning streak, but are currently without a win since a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Chicago Blackhawks on March 12.
The New York Jets have a 3.5-game lead over the Minnesota Timberwolves for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Metropolitan Division.
The Sabres are in the bottom of the conference, but have won six of their last eight games.
The Devils are on a six-game win streak, including two victories in the last three games.
“I think we’re going to win in a way that will make people want to come to the rink more,” Boston forward Matt Beleskey said.
“When you win, you get the fans going and it’s contagious.
We’ve got to continue to do that.”
The Bruins are tied for first in the conference at 11-2-1 and have not lost a game this season.
Boston has won eight of its last nine games, including a 3 – 0 win at Detroit on Sunday.
The Wild are the only team in the league to win nine straight games, and they have the third-best record in the NHL with a 14-6-0 record.
The team is playing its third consecutive home game, and the team is expected to wear blue, white and black jerseys for the first time since Feb. 2, when the team wore black jerseys.
“We’ve been winning the games we’ve played at home,” forward Ryan Suter said.
The Boston team is coming off a 4 – 1 win at St. Louis on Saturday.
The Blue Jackets were expected to play without two players because of injuries, but goalie Cam Atkinson and defenseman Niklas Kronwall are back.
Kronwall has been sidelined since Dec. 20 with a lower-body injury and is expected back on the ice for the Bruins game on Sunday night.
The Minnesota Wild won four straight games before dropping a 3 0 decision to the New York Devils on Friday night.
Minnesota leads the Atlantic Division with 42 points, while the New Jersey Generals are tied with Columbus with 42.
New Jersey is currently in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with 51 points.
The Islanders are tied at 17-15-2 with 22 games remaining in the regular season.
“The way they play, the way they defend, I think they’ve got a chance to win,” Islanders forward Mikhail Grabovski said.
Suter and forward Andrew Ladd are among the players who have been in the lineup for the last two games.
Sutter played for the New England Patriots last season and Ladd was with the San Jose Sharks this season, and both have played in the playoffs.
Suters goals came on March 3 and March 9 against the New Hampshire Wildcats.
Ladd’s goal came on April 3 at Florida State, which was Ladds first career goal against a ranked opponent.
“It was a lot of fun, and I’m proud of myself for the way I played,” Suter told Yahoo Sports after scoring on his first goal against the Wildcats.
“Hopefully, it’s going to carry over into next year.”
